Troy & Melissa’s Banff Wedding
Troy and Melissa were married at the beautiful Mount Norquay Resort, located in the Rocky Mountains above Banff Alberta. From the moment they contacted us a year and a half ago, we knew it would be an amazing wedding day and we were anxiously awaiting the trip. Melissa is from Prince George and Troy is from Australia. They fell in love while Melissa was teaching over there & decided to get married in one of the most beautiful places in the world – Banff, Alberta. Many of their family and friends from Australia came to Canada for the event and, for some it was their first time here.
We stayed with the wedding party and many of the guests at the Hidden Ridge Resort. What an amazing location nestled in the Rocky Mountains, just a few minutes from downtown Banff. On our way to the Resort we took a wrong turn, which was very fortunate since we came across the perfect location for their first-look session – a long stairway in front of an amazing rock wall.
After Melissa & Troy had their first look session, we met up with the Bridal Party at the Fenland Trail near the Vermillion Lakes. It was a perfect location for photos – with a clear mountain stream and lots of large spruce trees to provide some protection from the rain. If you go there, be sure to bring some bug spray as the mosquitoes were pretty intense.
Before long, it was time to head up Mount Norquay for the wedding ceremony. As we made our way up the hill the skies began to clear off. We pulled over at the Mount Norquay Lookout for a few more photos to take advantage of the scenic lookout above the town of Banff… some of our favourite photos of the day. What an amazing view of the town and the entire valley below!
Their wedding ceremony was originally planned for the balcony at the lodge, but with all the rain it had to be moved indoors. Still a beautiful place for a wedding – the lodge is beautiful with lots of natural light and the food was fantastic. Such an amazing day with so many great memories. Here are some of our favourite photos from Melissa & Troy’s Banff Wedding Day. (Make sure you scroll all the way down – you don’t want to miss their “Day-After Photo Session” at the stunning Moraine Lake!)
The next day we headed out for an After Wedding Session at Moraine Lake near Lake Louise. It is one of the most spectacular and scenic locations in the Rocky Mountains, and we really wanted to take some wedding photos there. We didn’t have time on the wedding day since it’s a bit of a drive from Banff, so the best option was an after wedding photo session. There was quite an audience with the tourist cameras going off all around us, so we moved down to a quieter location, which was the perfect spot to take advantage of the amazing blue water as a background. There was even a bit of a wind to catch the veil. It was so much fun, and we can’t wait until our next after wedding session. Here are some of our favourites.

Ancient Forest After-Wedding Session ~ Prince George BC
We have an exciting new type of session to offer couples called “After-Wedding-Sessions”.
These sessions are the perfect opportunity for wedding couples who weren’t able to get photos on their wedding day to get some amazing images to display on their walls or to fill a beautiful flushmount album. It’s also another chance for couples to get dressed up in their wedding attire and get photos done in a location that isn’t normally an option on the day of the wedding – especially if the driving time doesn’t fit into the tight timeline of the wedding day.
Clarke & Andrea were married at a small wedding ceremony in New Zealand. Clarke is originally from Ireland, so they had a wedding reception with his family there, and were now planning to do the same thing in Prince George with a reception/party with Andrea’s family. The Ancient Forest has been one of our dream wedding photography locations for some time, but since it’s so far from Prince George there hasn’t been an opportunity to go there during the actual wedding day. Clarke & Andrea said it would be the perfect location, so the plan was set and we were all very excited!
We started the day at noon with Hair & Makeup by the very talented Laura Heagy. She did a fantastic job as always! From there it was a quick stop to pick up the groom, and then we were off to the Ancient Forest. It was actually our first visit there, so we weren’t entirely sure what to expect. We knew it would be a good place for wedding photos, but had no idea how amazing and spectacular it would be. The color of green was unbelievable! With every turn of a corner along the trail, there was a new and exciting photo opportunity. We only made it half way around the trail, and can’t wait to return here again in the future.
Here are some of our favourites from Clarke & Andrea’s post-wedding photography session at the Ancient Forest near Prince George BC.

Josh & Josie’s Wedding – Prince George BC
Josh and Josie really wanted to have some of their wedding photos taken at Huble Homestead, and decided to do a first look session there in order to make it fit within the timeline of the wedding day. We found a nice quiet spot in the Cottonwood trees along the banks of the Fraser River, before heading up to take advantage of the beautiful barns. From there it was back to Prince George for their wedding ceremony and reception at the Hart Crown Banquet Hall. Their wedding was filled with beautiful personal touches and DIY projects. Josh is a woodworker and built the amazing wooden arbour for their wedding. He also built a wooden bench that was signed by the guests as their guestbook. Josie’s mother and sisters made the beautiful bouquet and their wedding cake & cupcakes. It was such a fantastic day with so much love and happiness.
The weather was fantastic so they were able have an outdoor ceremony at the Hart Crown Banquet Hall with the lush green background. And since we had done the first look session and bridal party photos at Huble Homestead before the ceremony, they were able to relax and mingle with their friends and family until the reception started. There was even some bocce ball set up in the big field, and a bit of badminton as well. Before long it was time to head inside for the wedding reception. The dinner was fantastic! They had two different options to choose from – a more traditional wedding meal with prime rib, and also a delicious buffet of Indian Food. One of our favourite meals of the wedding season!
Here are some of our favourite photos from their amazing wedding day at Huble Homestead and the Hart Crown Banquet Hall, in Prince George BC:

Night Session at Tyhee Lake
Here’s a collection of our favourite photos from a styled night photography session with Sandra & Werner at Tyhee Lake near Smithers, BC. We had an amazing time during their Prince George British Columbia Wedding, and now that they have moved to Smithers BC we wanted to meet up again for some more photos. Sandra was up for anything so we dressed her in a red velvet dress with a slit up the leg from Shauna’s collection of vintage dresses. This was such a fun session – they have a wicked sense of humour and had us laughing the entire time. What a fantastic night – can’t wait until our next night session!
If you would like to book a session of your own you can fill out our Northern Pixel Photography Contact Form – please put Styled Session in the subject line. We have a variety of dresses and session ideas and would love to meet for coffee to plan something with you!
