Kaitlyn & Ian are getting married this summer at Norman Lake, near Prince George BC. Their engagement shoot was supposed to be on a Saturday evening, but we found out on Friday morning there was a severe thunderstorm watch for both Saturday and Sunday. Luckily they were able to meet us Friday night. The change of date worked out perfectly, and the shoot went off without a hitch (although there was a fairly massive cloud of mosquitoes following us… and they ate rather well that evening)
They wanted to use Ian’s parents house as the location for their engagement session. It’s on a farm south of Prince George, and it certainly didn’t take much convincing once they described it to us. We were even more excited once we arrived and saw it in person – it was the perfect location for their session.
We started on a little bridge leading to a trail through the forest. After some photos on the bridge, we walked down the trail a bit. But it was pretty wet with all the rain we have been getting lately. So we took a few photos there, then headed to the fence overlooking the creek, and then over to the willow tree where Ian’s parents were married. We had a great time walking, talking, and taking photos as we made our way towards the field. And what an amazing field it was – full of green grass, yellow buttercups, white dandelions, and even a couple of old barns. What a great place for photography!
Eventually it started to get dark, and Kaitlyn had donated enough blood to the mosquitoes. So we said our farewells and headed on our way. After less than a minute on the highway it started raining pretty good. The timing couldn’t have been better. We cant wait to see them again at the wedding. They have some great ideas and its going to be an awesome day.

I had gone to both high school and elementary school with Janelle & Dan. So when we heard they were getting married we were happy to become a part of their wedding day. We met them for their Engagement Session at Fort George Park to get some photos of the two of them along with their adorable son Dylan. As a massive Oiler’s fan, Dan though they looked pretty awesome in their jerseys. But of course being in BC, there was a facebook comment right away saying otherwise 🙂 No doubting the cuteness of their son Dylan though…
They are getting married out on the farm this summer, so for their engagement session they wanted something that would be a bit different from the farm/outdoors look. So we decided on downtown as the location (after some family photos in the park of course). From there we headed over to the tracks, which we thought did not get a lot of use. So we were quite surprised when a train suddenly appeared. Although it did make for an interesting background. Overall it was a great evening and we had a lot of fun laughing, posing, joking around, and of course with some catching up as well. We are really looking forward to their wedding this summer… its going to be a lot of fun!

We first met with Melanie in January at the StoryBook Wedding Bridal Expo, which took place at the Civic Center in Prince George, BC. We met a few weeks later to take photos of their beautiful baby girl Leighton.
So it was great to see them once again for their Engagement Session in May. We met them at the College of New Caledonia, and then headed down to the trails at Cottonwood Island Park. They are such a cute family. We had a great time walking the trails, discussing their wedding plans, and of course taking photos.

Wanted: Couples or Individuals for fun and creative Themed Photo Sessions. We have a variety of themes and locations in mind – all we need are some interested couples or individuals to take part.
Here is the link to our Contact Page. We will get back to you within 48 hours to discuss a themed session of your own. Please put ‘Themed Photo Session’ in the subject line. You can also add a short description of the type of theme you might be interested in – such as forest, field, water, sunrise, sunset, trash the dress, glamour, vintage, etc. And don’t worry if you don’t have a theme in mind… we have a lot of great ideas and locations and would be happy to discuss them with you to help develop the perfect session.
Please keep in mind that some flexibility may be required to get the conditions just right for the time and date of the shoot – depending on the theme. We had to push Vikki & David’s photo session back a few times for the weather, as we needed a bright sunny day to get the lighting just right to suit their theme. But some of the themed sessions will work better with cloudy weather, or even rain. It will just depend on which type of session you would like to do – being in the right place at the right time makes all the difference for these types of shoots.
Here are a few photos from the Fairy in the Forest Session with Vikki and David, inspired by a photo of Taylor Swift who is Vikki’s favorite artist:
