Naomi & Matt – 1920’s Themed Wedding
We have been looking forward to Naomi & Matt’s wedding for some time now. They booked us over a year ago, we did their Engagement Session last summer, and we have met with them quite a few times in between. So we have gotten to know them pretty well. It has been a lot of fun discussing the plans – especially with the amazing 1920’s theme of their wedding day.
After a long summer of waiting, the day was finally here! We had a great rehearsal dinner with their friends and family at the ThanVu Restaurant in Prince George, before heading down for the rehearsal at the Skylight Room of the Ramada Inn – the location for their ceremony and their reception.
It was an eventful weekend for us… after the rehearsal we headed over the PGX to watch the fireworks, and even saw a couple of Perseid Meteors as well. We were pretty excited about the wedding, so it was a fairly short night’s sleep. We woke up on the day of the wedding to a beautiful sunny morning. Shauna headed out first to meet the girls at Core Salon & Spa for the Hair & Makeup. They had great time getting ready – tonnes of laughs and a great start to the day.
Dan went out to meet the guys a bit later, as they were getting ready at the best man’s house. There weren’t as many laughs and giggles, but it was a easy-going and relaxing start to the day with some cigars, a few beers, and even a bit of pool.
From there it was on to Connaught Hill Park for the First Look Session. Dan drove down to Connaught with Matt, while Naomi and Shauna came in the limo. The First Look Session is such an amazing experience for us and especially for the couple. They both said it was awesome to just spend a some time together and have a few moments alone before the ceremony. And it always seems to produce some of the our favorite photos of the day!
But soon enough it was time for the ceremony, so they got back in the limo and headed down to the Skylight Room at the Ramada Prince George. It was a beautiful location, and perfect for their wedding of approximately 80 guests. And the skylights provide some great natural lighting.
After the ceremony it was over to Cottonwood Island Park for the Family and Bridal Party photos. Naomi & Matt really wanted to use the new bridge as the location for their photos. But another couple were having their wedding photos on the bridge when we got there, so we relaxed in the shade of the Cottonwoods for a few minutes until they were done. It was nice to just hang out and relax for a bit, before we all headed over to the bridge.
And then it was on to the Prince George Railway Museum with Matt & Naomi for their Newlywed photos. With their wedding on the same weekend as the PGX, things were pretty quiet at the Railway Museum. Which was great for photos as we had the entire place pretty much to ourselves. The vintage train cars were a great complement to their 1920’s Themed Wedding – especially the Nechako and the Endeavour rail cars. It was the perfect location for their photos!
Once the newlywed photos were complete it was time for the reception. The venue looked awesome – the Peacock centerpieces they made looked great with their 1920’s theme, many of the guests dressed up as well, and the buffet dinner was awesome. And what a party it was throughout the evening! Our DJ and MC for the night was Steve Brawn of The P.G. Entertainment Group. What an amazing artist – he was one of the funniest MC’s and best DJ’s we have seen. He kept everyone laughing throughout the night, the dinner music was low enough we could talk to our entire table, and he knew just when to crank things up for a great night of dancing. For their wedding cake they had a small cake on top of a pyramid of cupcakes, by Happy Valley Cupcakes.
A great end to an amazing day!
Congratulations once again to Matt & Naomi, we wish you all best in the future!
