Night Photo Session

We headed out north of Prince George for a night photo session with Naomi & Matt. It was very foggy for most of the evening, but then the fog cleared off and we got the photo we were waiting for… a wedding couple with the Northern Lights in the Background!

We didn’t have long before the fog caught up with us and once again blocked out the sky. We are definitely looking forward to shooting more night photography sessions in the future. All we need are some interested couples and individuals to take part!

If you are interested you can fill out Our Contact Form, and we will get back to you to discuss the type of scene you would like to be a part of… whether it’s a fun light painting session, or something more dramatic with the Stars, a Meteor Shower, or the Northern Lights in the background.

Thanks for reading.  If you like our work you can check out our Northern Pixel Photography Website or find us on Facebook. Or you can stop by our booth at the 2013 Storybook Wedding Bridal Expo on January 20, 2013 at the Prince George Civic Center.

Billie & Nick’s Engagement Session – Prince George, BC

This engagement session at Cottonwood Park in Prince George BC is one of our favorites.

Billie and Nick both live out of town, but Nick is from PG and will be coming home for the wedding. They were planning to be here in early September, so we were happy to meet them at Cottonwood Island Park for their engagement session. It turned out to be the perfect evening for the type of photos Billie wanted for their shoot – lots of golden light and lots of sunflare! (and our favorite as well)

We are really looking forward to their wedding at Huble Farm next summer, which is on our wish list of places we would love to photograph. One of these days we will find some time for a blog post of our favourite / top photography locations in Prince George. But that will have to wait a while for now, at least until we get caught up on all the wedding and family posts we have coming up. Here are some of the photos from their session…

Christine & Nathan – Engagement

We met Christine & Nathan at the Storybook Bridal Expo back in January. We have been looking forward to their engagement session for a while, and now summer finally decided to show up… just in time.

We met them and their two boys at Ginter’s Park in Prince George BC on a beautiful sunny Friday evening. They wanted to get a few family photos to start their session. After that, the boys played in the trees (and in the ant hills) while we took photos of Christine & Nathan. They were like models… such a happy couple and so easy to work with. Such a sweet, down-to-earth, couple.

As we walked through the park we had a great time discussing their upcoming wedding. Christine & Shauna are both huge fans of Pinterest, and they had a lot of fun discussing her amazing DIY Wedding Plans for their backyard wedding. It’s going to be awesome!

Engagement Session – Melanie & Blake

We first met with Melanie in January at the StoryBook Wedding Bridal Expo, which took place at the Civic Center in Prince George, BC. We met a few weeks later to take photos of their beautiful baby girl Leighton.

So it was great to see them once again for their Engagement Session in May. We met them at the College of New Caledonia, and then headed down to the trails at Cottonwood Island Park. They are such a cute family. We had a great time walking the trails, discussing their wedding plans, and of course taking photos.

Themed Photo Sessions

Wanted: Couples or Individuals for fun and creative Themed Photo Sessions. We have a variety of themes and locations in mind – all we need are some interested couples or individuals to take part.

Here is the link to our Contact Page. We will get back to you within 48 hours to discuss a themed session of your own. Please put ‘Themed Photo Session’ in the subject line. You can also add a short description of the type of theme you might be interested in – such as forest, field, water, sunrise, sunset, trash the dress, glamour, vintage, etc. And don’t worry if you don’t have a theme in mind… we have a lot of great ideas and locations and would be happy to discuss them with you to help develop the perfect session.

Please keep in mind that some flexibility may be required to get the conditions just right for the time and date of the shoot – depending on the theme. We had to push Vikki & David’s photo session back a few times for the weather, as we needed a bright sunny day to get the lighting just right to suit their theme. But some of the themed sessions will work better with cloudy weather, or even rain. It will just depend on which type of session you would like to do – being in the right place at the right time makes all the difference for these types of shoots.

Here are a few photos from the Fairy in the Forest Session with Vikki and David, inspired by a photo of Taylor Swift who is Vikki’s favorite artist:

We wanted to try something fun and creative as we were winding down to the winter season. We had a few ideas in mind, but weren’t quite sure how it would all come together. It was getting towards the middle of October, so we knew there wasnt a lot of time left before winter arrived. But then we ran into Vikki one day, and she was game for a fun photoshoot and even had a couple ideas.

We met her during a previous wedding. She was great to work with and very enthusiastic about photography. She also works with Naomi, and recommended us for their wedding next summer.

Shauna and Vikki discussed some ideas on what direction and theme we might take with the shoot. They decided it would be a lot of fun to try a fairy princess in the forest shoot. Since it was just before Halloween, we figured there would be no trouble finding the right outfit. Shauna found the pink dress, and then made the tulle skirt to go with it. We decided on Berman Lake as the location, as we knew there was a great variety of trees, moss, and trails to work with.

The weather did not co-operate for the first few days we planned to go out, and we started to wonder if winter would arrive before we got the chance to do the shoot. But then we woke up on October 30th to sunny skies, and knew the weather had turned in our favor… although it was still under 5’C and quite a bit windier than we would have liked. Dan brought his big winter parka for Vikki to wear while we werent shooting, and we took quite a few warm-up breaks in the car.

But the results were most definitely worth all the planning, the waiting, and the cold. These are definitely some of our favorite photos. And it has been just as much fun reading all the great comments on our Facebook page from Vikki and her friends. We definitely are looking forward to planning more photo-shoots like this in the future.
