Engagement Session – Kaitlyn and Ian

Kaitlyn & Ian are getting married this summer at Norman Lake, near Prince George BC. Their engagement shoot was supposed to be on a Saturday evening, but we found out on Friday morning there was a severe thunderstorm watch for both Saturday and Sunday. Luckily they were able to meet us Friday night. The change of date worked out perfectly, and the shoot went off without a hitch (although there was a fairly massive cloud of mosquitoes following us… and they ate rather well that evening)

They wanted to use Ian’s parents house as the location for their engagement session. It’s on a farm south of Prince George, and it certainly didn’t take much convincing once they described it to us. We were even more excited once we arrived and saw it in person – it was the perfect location for their session.

We started on a little bridge leading to a trail through the forest. After some photos on the bridge, we walked down the trail a bit. But it was pretty wet with all the rain we have been getting lately. So we took a few photos there, then headed to the fence overlooking the creek, and then over to the willow tree where Ian’s parents were married. We had a great time walking, talking, and taking photos as we made our way towards the field. And what an amazing field it was – full of green grass, yellow buttercups, white dandelions, and even a couple of old barns. What a great place for photography!

Eventually it started to get dark, and Kaitlyn had donated enough blood to the mosquitoes. So we said our farewells and headed on our way. After less than a minute on the highway it started raining pretty good. The timing couldn’t have been better. We cant wait to see them again at the wedding. They have some great ideas and its going to be an awesome day.

Hey, thanks for checking out my blog Grand Adventures! I lived 20 years in Prince George and still have family there. Great to see that there’s a good photographer there. There is so much wild beauty. Sean and I love hunting for good photo shoots too, where ever we go, we’ve got two camera’s clicking.
