Bednesti Lake Engagement Session
Melissa & Norm suggested their cabin at Bednesti Lake for their engagement session, which sounded like a great place for photos. We took some photos along the shoreline and on the dock, before heading back up towards the cabin. And while there were a few rainclouds passing through, the water was calm and it was a beautiful evening to be out at the lake. Here are some of our favorites from their session:
Congratulations once again to Melissa & Norm!

Our Maui Vacation 2013
After an amazing and busy 2012 photography season we were looking forward to our vacation – and headed back to Maui for our fifth anniversary. We were married at Secret Cove Beach in 2008 so it was great to be back, and was a very relaxing trip. We really enjoyed all the amazing food – from the banana macadamia nut french toast & pancakes at the Kihei Cafe, to our favorite restaurant Sansei Seafood and Sushi with their amazing mango crab salad hand roll, rainbow roll, panko crusted ahi roll, and fresh ahi tuna with shrimp cake. We also spent lots of time at the beach – especially Palauea, Napili, Mokapu, and of course Secret Cove.
Here are some of our favorites photos from the trip:
One of our new favorite Maui Beaches – with great sand, clear water, and beautiful sunsets…
Honolua Bay is one of our absolute favorite places on the island of Maui. Such a great view from the lookout above the bay, then you walk through this amazing rainforest, and then down to the clear water for some of the best snorkelling. Always one of the first places we visit…
Palauea Beach is one of Maui’s Turtle Towns and its not hard to see why. Dan went out snorkelling for half an hour or so and saw three or four turtles. This one come swimming right over and was pretty exciting to see up close…
Plumeria’s are one of Shauna’s favorite flowers! We saw this tree while driving and of course turned around to get a closer look at the beautiful colors…
Too far south for the northern lights to show up, but that just means the Milky Way is that much more visible… and what a sight it was…
On Left: A sunset silhouette photo we took of ourselves at Mokapu Beach on our anniversary…
On Right: A wave crashing at Keanae, one of our favorite places to stop along the Hana Highway…
Another of our favorite sunset photos taken at Mokapu Beach…
The Kihei Cafe was our favorite place for breakfast… Dan’s favorite was the pineapple coconut french toast, and Shauna’s favorite was the banana macadamia nut french toast…
We could see some whales from the beach, so booked a whale watching trip with the Pacific Whale Foundation to get a closer view. We saw lots of whales again this time, although we didn’t get quite as close as last time. The trip was worth it just for the view of the islands from the water…
We visited our wedding beach at Secret Cove a few times. Our first visit was a Saturday evening, so it was quite busy. Went back again after an early morning of night photos and found the beach completely empty. So beautiful and so relaxing…
We had a lot of fun trying out some self portraits throughout the trip, and this one at Ulua Beach was definitely one of our favorites…
