Northern Pixel Photography – Our Favourites of 2013
Another year has come and gone, and it’s time once again to look back at some of our favourite photos taken throughout 2013. The Storybook Wedding Bridal Expo in January provided another exciting start to the year where we got to meet tons of brides-to-be, and the other wedding industry vendors. It also led to some winter engagement sessions which were very popular in 2013. Before long we were off to Maui to celebrate our 5th Wedding Anniversary, and then got right back into some more engagement sessions upon our return, and then before we knew it the wedding season was upon us. The summer and fall flew by as well – with so many great memories throughout the year!
A few highlights included being commissioned for our first commercial photoshoot for Canadian Living Magazine to photograph Tracey (it was an amazing experience to hear her story and photograph her, and a few happy tears were even shed when we showed her a photo on the back of the camera). We also did our first night candlelit session at Tyee Lake in Smithers with Sandra & Werner – one of our bridal couples from 2011. We also had a chance to do an engagement session in Jasper with Jennifer & Andrew who were up for anything and were willing to perch on a rock in the lake to get a great photo. And we also booked our first wedding in a dream location – Banff, Alberta with Melissa & Troy (coming up in summer 2014!!!).
It has been a great year of firsts, growth, and gratefulness. Thank you so much to all of our new & returning clients, and to our friends and family. We appreciate that you have chosen us to capture your love stories, your growing families, and wedding day moments.
Here are some of our favourite photos of 2013, starting with a few styled sessions (we are planning to do many more of these in 2014), then weddings, engagements, families, and a few personal photos…

2014 is shaping up to be another great year, with weddings booked in Prince George, Smithers & Banff, another Hawaiian vacation in the works, and of course the Storybook Wedding Bridal Expo coming on January 26th at the Prince George Civic Center.

Peter & Marissa’s Outdoor Summer Farm Wedding
Marissa & Peter had a small and intimate outdoor wedding at their family farm near Prince George, BC. It was an amazing fun-filled day with tons of creative DIY personal touches and so many beautiful details including a homemade branch archway for the ceremony, a type-writer guestbook, local organic food grown on the farm, fresh berry pie in place of a traditional wedding cake. They both love to read, and Peter is opening his own bookstore soon, so there were many literary nods incorporated into the day, with many references to Lord of the Rings (the bride’s favourite).
They had a beautiful white tent reception, with antique books and pink lilies in pastel mason jars as the centerpieces on each table, and a variety of games for the guests to enjoy – croquet, bocce ball, and badminton. Part way through the day everyone headed down to the river to cool off. Here are some of our favourite photos from their wedding day…congratulations again Marissa & Peter! Thank you so much for choosing Northern Pixel to document your wedding & love story.
Congratulations to Peter & Marissa! What an incredible wedding day with so much love and happiness.

Nick & Billie’s Wedding at Huble Homestead
Nick & Billie had so many great ideas for their wedding ceremony at Huble Homestead near Prince George BC. They had a beautiful outdoor ceremony planned overlooking the Fraser River with a home-made archway, a lemonade stand, games, and much more. However mother nature had other ideas, and the heavy rains in the forecast caused some last minute changes. The archway was moved to the barn entrance and the entire ceremony moved into the loft. The changes led to a very intimate and beautiful ceremony experience. And moving into the barn certainly turned out to be the right call, as the skies opened up part way through the ceremony and the rain began to pour. But it stopped raining just long enough for us to do some newlywed photos around the beautiful grounds at Huble Farm. What a great place for a wedding!
And then it was on to the Ramada Prince George for their wedding reception at the Cranbrook Ballroom. Such a loving couple with amazing family & friends! There were a lot of tears, and so much happiness throughout the day.
Congratulations once again to Nick and Billie!

Janelle & Dan’s Wedding
Janelle & Dan were married on a beautiful and hot September day at the family farm in the Blackburn area of Prince George, BC. Their farm wedding was a contrast to their engagement session we did back in June.
Janelle had a lot of great DIY wedding ideas for her wedding – our favorite was the hay bale benches. The guys arrived on an old Mercury Pickup, while Janelle and her father arrived in a 1926 Model T Ford. What a great way to start things off! After the ceremony we did some family and bridal party photos at the farm, before heading over for some newlywed photos on the way to their wedding reception at the Blackburn Hall. What a great day!
Congratulations once again to Janelle & Dan!
